We recently had the pleasure of collaborating with South Florida designer Daniela Nuila of Mint Decor Miami for the 2018 Miami Showhouse at the historic Deering Estate.
Daniela was one of the few designers chosen to redesign and completely transform one of the Estate’s rooms, so she came to Icon Ltg. for lighting that would fit the 1920’s theme she was going for. She ended up choosing a few pieces from Visual Comfort's Gramercy Collection, and the final space looked absolutely gorgeous!
Below Daniela explains her thought process as she designed the room.
"I wanted to stay true to the era in which the house was built (early 1900s) and I wanted the space to feel as if the items chosen for the room belonged there... but still felt relevant for today’s way of living. I had to to choose everything carefully, mixing old and new together in a way that would make sense in the space and the home as a whole.
For the lighting, I wanted something that had a vintage feel. It had to be something that allowed me to blend silver and gold while feeling elegant and tropical at the same time.
When I came across the Gramercy Collection by Visual Comfort, I knew that was it. It was the perfect size, shape, look and blend of old and new. I loved the leafy shape at the top of the sconces and chandelier. The pieces were exactly right and made my space spectacular. I could not have chosen better lighting for that design, and I'm so grateful to Icon Ltg. for all of their help and generosity during this project."
